Lives and works in Alleppey (Alappuzha), popularly known as the A Venice of the East@, in the State of Kerala, India. Kerala , the southern most State in India, is known for its lush green forests, paddy fields, beaches, backwaters and mountains. It is the only fully literate State in India, keeping up to European standards in healthcare, female literacy, birth rates, child-mortality etc., Alleppey, is a semi urban area with a population of 0.5 million people. AKuttanad@ - the >rice bowl= of Kerala, is one of the unique ecosystems in the world - it is an entirely man-made ecosystem and sustained by human effort. It is more than 3 meters below sea level. A rough comparison could be made with the Netherlands, most of which is also below sea level.
